Over the next two nights, scholars should finish their children's books and illustrations. This Performance Task is due Wednesday.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 6/6, is Deans' Day, so scholars will be participating in a variety of field day events. Scholars should wear their Homeroom color!

There is no written homework this weekend. However, scholars have started working on their final copies of their children's books. They will have class time on Monday to work on this and it will be due on Wednesday. That being said, scholars will be expected to finish their books Monday and Tuesday night if they do not finish in class on Monday.
Scholars are encouraged to complete test corrections for their Mid-Unit 3 Assessment on sentences. They are due tomorrow.
There is no written homework this evening, but scholars will missing work should complete those assignments as soon as possible and turn them in for partial credit.
Today and tomorrow in class scholars will be working on their second draft of their children's storybooks. This draft will be collected at the end of class tomorrow. Scholars are encouraged to do some work tonight, but not finish their drafts, if they believe today and tomorrow will not be enough time for them to work on this assignment in class.
Scholars should finish draft 1 of their storyboards and have them ready for class on Tuesday. Reminder: Monday is Memorial Day, so school will be closed.
Scholars should finish Revision Point 2: Peer in their I Heart Revisions packet if it was not finished in class.
Scholars should return to class tomorrow prepared with the materials they need for their children's books (planning packet, excerpt, Narrative Writer's Toolbox, Narrative Arc cheat sheet).
Over the weekend, scholars should finish their Children's Storybook Planning Packet and have 5 questions prepared for Part II of the Mid-Unit Assessment during which they will partake in a Writer's Roundtable.
Tomorrow scholars will take Part I of their Mid-Unit Assessment and it will be on sentences/structure. They should review the notes from Monday and Tuesday and review any returned work on sentences from this week.
On Monday, scholars will complete Part II of the Mid-Unit Assessment. For this, they will participate in a Writer's Roundtable where they will share the concerns they have about their children's storybook plans. The plan should be completed over the weekend and brought back on Monday for this Roundtable. Permission slips are due tomorrow for the trip to MoMath on Friday 5/26! |
